In a festive atmosphere shortly before the Christmas holidays, students of Culinary ArtsatAmerican College took part in a special Christmas Cake Workshop, organized in collaboration with ANGEO Cyprus.
The workshop offered students the opportunity to explore seasonal pastry techniques and gain practical experience in the preparation and decoration of festive desserts. Under the guidance of chef Giannis Koutalis, students learned important steps involved in creating a Christmas Cake, from preparation and structure to decoration and final presentation.
During the session, students created their own Christmas Cake, applying techniques demonstrated by the chef and developing their creativity through hands-on practice. The workshop also included the preparation of a red velvet log, adding an extra festive touch to the experience and giving students the chance to observe different approaches to Christmas dessert preparation.
This activity highlighted the importance of practical training in culinary education. Through workshops like this, students are able to connect classroom knowledge with real professional techniques, while also understanding the value of precision, creativity, teamwork, and presentation in the culinary field.
The Christmas Cake Workshop also reflected the strong collaboration between American College and professionals from the industry. Such initiatives give students valuable exposure to current practices and help them build confidence for their future careers in gastronomy, hospitality, and food service.
Beyond the technical knowledge, the workshop created a warm and creative environment, filled with Christmas spirit, festive flavours, and enthusiasm. It was a beautiful moment of learning and inspiration, allowing students to develop their skills while enjoying the magic of the season. Overall, the Christmas Cake Workshop was a meaningful and enjoyable educational experience, combining professional guidance, practical learning, creativity, and festive celebration.
