Students enrolled in this two-year program earn a Diploma in Accounting Officer. The program is designed to prepare students for entry-level Accounting positions in private and public organizations and for higher studies in accounting and business.
Career Prospects and Access to Further Studies
All organizations, from the smallest to the largest, have computerized accounting office or purchase computerized accounting services from accounting service providers. Therefore, there is a very high demand for accounting officers. Graduates of this program have the opportunity to work in the following organizations and professions and/or continue their studies in a Bachelor’s degree program in the field of Accounting, Business Administration, etc.:
- Companies providing accounting and/or auditing services,
- Service, trade or industry companies,
- Banks and
- Public and semi-public organizations.
Professional Certifications
The course syllabuses of the program are designed to prepare the students of the Accounting Officer Diploma to take external examinations and obtain, in parallel with their studies, the following professional certifications:
- Pearson LCCI Level 1 Bookkeeping,
- Pearson LCCI Level 2 Bookkeeping and Accounting,
- Pearson LCCI Level 3 Accounting and
- European Computer Driving License (ECDL).
Accreditation
This program of study is accredited by the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education (CYQAA). CYQAA is the competent authority of the Republic of Cyprus responsible for ensuring the quality of higher education in Cyprus and for the support of the processes provided by the relevant Legislation, for the continuous improvement and upgrading of higher education institutions and their programs of study.
The qualification awarded is recognized by the Cyprus Council of Recognition of Higher Education Qualifications (KYSATS). KYSATS is the competent authority of the Republic of Cyprus for the recognition of higher education qualifications.
Purpose and Objectives
The program’s purpose and objectives are:
- To provide students with the necessary knowledge to apply book-keeping;
- To provide students with an in-depth understanding of the principles, regulations and theories of book-keeping;
- To provide students with important knowledge related to tax, social insurance issues as well as labor and company law;
- To train students on how to use popular Computerized Accounting Software and Payroll Software as well as other popular software such as Excel, Word, Internet browser and Outlook and the operating system Windows; and
- To provide students with the problem-solving skills and tools needed to begin their career and to enable them to advance in the accounting field.
Intended learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, graduates will be able to:
- Acquire a comprehensive view of Accounting principles, rules and theories;
- Execute the procedures of modern accounting that is applied by accounting officers in organizations;
- Use Computerized Accounting software, payroll software and other popular software such as Excel, Word, Internet browser and Outlook and the operating system Windows;
- Open accounts in a computerized accounting software, record accounting entries and print accounting reports; and
- Complete forms related to Social Insurance, Value Added Tax, other Taxes and others.
Students learn how to use the most popular computerized accounting and payroll software in Cyprus, E-Soft Accounting Software System and Premier Payroll.

If you are a Cypriot citizen or a citizen of a member state of the European Union, you have lived with your family in Cyprus for the last 5 years and have an annual gross family income of up to €59,000, you may be eligible to receive the Cyprus Government Student Sponsorship of up to €3.420 / year. You can find out if you are eligible for the sponsorship by contacting officers of the College. The College officers are on hand to help you prepare your application for the sponsorship.
Of course, for courses that you have successfully completed you can be exempted from corresponding or related courses. Based on the regulations of the Cyprus Council of Recognition of Higher Education Qualifications, you can transfer credits of up to 50% of the total credits of your program of study you will be studying. This means that for bachelor’s degree that bears 240 ECTS you may transfer up to 120 ECTS.
Yes. After you successfully complete this accredited program of study, you can transfer the courses you have successfully completed and continue to a related Bachelor’s degree program of study.
Attending this program does not require knowledge of the subjects of study. Teaching commences with the basics and progresses to the most advanced.
